About Airtime
Airtime is a jump game made for the browser. Its developer describes it as a complete, independent rewrite of Urban Terror’s jump physics, written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly. It isn’t a port of Urban Terror and contains none of that game’s models, textures, sounds or files. What it recreates is the movement: the wall jumps and momentum that led Urban Terror players to build maps where the challenge is reaching the end, not winning a gunfight.
The game is built around timing and studying runs. Alongside run and jump timers and a map clock, it has a speed graph, an efficiency meter, logs of where you lost speed and a preview of where you will land. Ghosts show earlier runs and finishes. For practice, slow motion and rewind are available offline, gravity can be switched to point in other directions, and a sandbox lets you change the physics. Times set with changed physics aren’t treated as Urban Terror times, and aids such as yaw assist and auto-hop switch off during timed server runs.
Two extra tools sit beside the game. A map editor lets you build your own jump map in the browser, and Studio lets you replay and study runs and export clips.
How it runs in your browser
Pressing Play opens playairtime.com in a new tab, where the game runs straight from its developer’s site. Nothing needs to be installed, and no account is mentioned.
The map browser has Featured and Browse maps tabs that download community jump maps from a hosted mirror, with the list drawn from urtjumpmaps.com. You can also load a map from a URL or add your own .pk3 files, including texture packs, which stay available once added; this is optional. Some maps rely on original Urban Terror textures that Airtime doesn’t include, and those surfaces show placeholder textures instead.
There is a multiplayer section with server runs and a scoreboard, but the site labels multiplayer as experimental, so don’t count on it behaving like a finished online mode.
Controls and devices
Airtime is played with a keyboard and mouse. Esc opens the menu, and keys can be rebound from the Controls settings, with training keys such as rewind and slow motion under Controls, then Training. A key can also be bound to cycle gravity through down, up and the four compass directions. Default key bindings aren’t listed on the site, so check the Controls menu when you start. Phones and controllers aren’t listed as supported.
Who it’s for
It suits Urban Terror jump players who want to practice without installing the game, and anyone who enjoys movement for its own sake. If you like chasing faster times on fixed courses, Surfd applies the same idea to Counter-Strike-style surf.
Is Airtime Free, Safe and Official?
Is Airtime part of Urban Terror?
No. It’s an independent rewrite of Urban Terror’s jump physics with no Urban Terror models, textures, sounds or game files, and it isn’t affiliated with FrozenSand.
Do I need my own map files to play Airtime?
No. The Featured and Browse maps tabs download community jump maps from a hosted mirror. Loading your own .pk3 files, or pasting a link to one, is optional.
Can I play Airtime with other people?
There is a multiplayer section, but the site labels it experimental. Solo runs, timers and the training tools work without it.
