About Don’t Fall

Don’t Fall is a 3D climbing game by Hatchworks, made for the web rather than ported from another platform. The whole game is a single climb of 3,226 meters, from a launch yard at the bottom to a crown at the top. There are no checkpoints, no saves and no shortcuts back up. When you miss a jump, you drop onto whatever is below and carry on from there, which can cost you a few meters or a large share of the climb.

It belongs to the small genre of rage games built around falling, and the developer names Getting Over It and Only Up as the games it follows. The challenge comes from the route itself rather than from enemies: every jump is a small gamble, and the price of getting it wrong depends on what lies underneath. The on-screen display keeps count of your time, your current height, your best mark and the number of big falls you’ve taken, which makes it easy to see how much a single slip cost.

How it runs in your browser

Since Don’t Fall is a native browser game built with Three.js, there is no emulator or port in between. Pressing Play opens the game on hatchworks.fyi in a new tab, where it runs straight from the developer’s site. Nothing needs to be downloaded or installed.

The loading screen sets the tone with a line about taking your time, because “the tower is not going anywhere.” From the menu you can mute the music or share a run. With no saves, it’s best to start a climb when you have time to keep going, rather than expecting to pick it up again later.

Controls and devices

The game shows the arrow keys for running, along with controls to look around and crouch. We don’t have a full key list, so check the controls shown in the game before you start. Controller support isn’t mentioned, and phones aren’t listed as supported, so plan on a desktop or laptop with a keyboard.

Precise jumps matter more than speed here. A steady frame rate helps, so closing other heavy tabs before a long attempt is a sensible step on an older computer.

Who it’s for

Don’t Fall suits players who enjoyed Getting Over It or Only Up and want the same kind of challenge in a browser tab without installing anything. It works best for people who don’t mind losing a lot of progress to one mistake and climbing back up. If you want regular checkpoints or a way to save your progress, this isn’t the game for you, since the whole design depends on not having them.

Is Don’t Fall Free, Safe and Official?

Is Don’t Fall a port of an older game?

No. It’s an original game made for the browser by Hatchworks and built with Three.js. The developer submitted it to us.

Does Don’t Fall have checkpoints?

No. The climb is one continuous route with no checkpoints and no saves. If you fall, you carry on from wherever you land, however far down that is.

Can I play Don’t Fall on my phone?

Phone play isn’t listed as supported. The controls shown in the game are keyboard controls, so a desktop or laptop is the safer choice.
