About NBA Street V3
EA Canada made NBA Street V3, and Electronic Arts released it under its EA Sports BIG label in February 2005 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube. It is the third NBA Street game, and like the earlier two it treats basketball as a playground show rather than a simulation. Teams have three players, there are no fouls, no out of bounds and no game clock, though a shot clock still runs. A game goes to 21 by default and has to be won by two, with short shots worth one point and long shots two.
Style is part of the scoring. Pulling off tricks fills a meter toward a Gamebreaker, a special dunk sequence: in the air you can add tricks with the right stick or pass to teammates, and a finished dunk is worth two to four points while taking one off the other team’s score. Push the tricks too far and the dunk can miss. On the ground, the Trick Stick handles moves with the ball. V3 added a Dunk Contest that uses the same controls, twelve courts based on real places such as Rucker Park and Venice Beach, and a court creator for building a home court. All 30 NBA teams are in, along with legends such as Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.
How it runs in your browser
The browser version is a fan project by Slayoner that runs the PS2 release on snuri00’s runtime, built with WebAssembly and WebGPU. Pressing Play opens nbastreet3.online in a new tab. The host downloads the game data for you, so there’s nothing to install and no game file to provide. Click inside the game once it appears so your key presses reach it.
Private rooms with chat are available too. According to the host’s English guide, two-player mode in this game hasn’t been tested online, so a room may open while a two-person game still fails to run properly. Playing against the computer is the reliable option. Saving isn’t listed as a feature.
Controls and devices
A keyboard or a game controller works. The game leans on an analog stick for tricks, so a controller gets closer to the PS2 experience than keys do. The key layout isn’t listed here; check the host’s page or the in-game options after loading.
Use a current Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop. Phones aren’t listed as supported, and browsers without WebGPU may not run the game.
Who it’s for
NBA Street V3 suits anyone who prefers dunks, crossovers and loud presentation to a full NBA season, and players who remember the series from the mid-2000s. A game to 21 against the computer takes a few minutes, which fits a short break. For other sports games with online play, see our multiplayer list.
Is NBA Street V3 Free, Safe and Official?
Can I play NBA Street V3 online against a friend?
Possibly. The host has private rooms with chat, but its guide says this game’s two-player mode hasn’t been tested online, so online games are experimental.
Is this the official NBA Street V3?
No. It’s a fan project by Slayoner that runs the PS2 version in a browser. It isn’t made or endorsed by Electronic Arts or the NBA.
Are Mario, Luigi and Peach in this version?
No. Those three were exclusive to the GameCube release. The browser version runs the PS2 game, which doesn’t include them.
