About Tony Hawk’s Underground 2
Neversoft developed Tony Hawk’s Underground 2, and Activision released it in October 2004 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube, with a Windows port by Beenox arriving the same month. It is the sixth game in the Tony Hawk’s series. The Game Boy Advance version was a different game made by Vicarious Visions, and the PSP’s Remix came out a year later as its own release.
Story mode follows the World Destruction Tour, a contest between Team Hawk, led by Tony Hawk, and Team Bam, led by Bam Margera. The tour moves between cities including Boston, Barcelona, Berlin, Bangkok and New Orleans, plus Australia and Skatopia, and each stop has its own list of goals. Classic mode is the alternative: timed runs with ten goals per level, set in stages based on the earlier Pro Skater games, some of which can only be reached there.
The game added a few moves of its own. Focus slows time once your special meter is full, which helps hold a combo together. The Natas Spin lets you spin on top of small objects such as fire hydrants, the Sticker Slap replaces the wallplant, and a Freak Out lets your skater vent after certain bails.
How it runs in your browser
The browser version is a fan project by Slayoner. It runs the PS2 release on snuri00’s runtime, built with WebAssembly and WebGPU, and pressing Play opens tonyhawksunderground2.online in a new tab. The site fetches the game data on its own, so nothing needs installing and you don’t supply a disc image. Click inside the game when it appears so it starts reading your input.
The host documents private rooms that keep the game synchronized between two browsers. One player creates a room and shares its code, and once you’re together, you pick the session type from the game’s own multiplayer menus. Saving isn’t listed as a feature, so a long story run may not carry over to your next visit.
Controls and devices
Both a keyboard and a game controller work. A controller is the closer match to the PS2 pad, especially for manuals and Focus timing. The key layout isn’t listed here, so check the host’s page or the game’s options after it loads.
Use a current Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop. Phones aren’t listed as supported, and a browser without WebGPU may not run the game.
Who it’s for
This suits skaters who remember the World Destruction Tour and want to revisit it without an old console, and friends who want a private session in the same park from two different places. Classic mode is a good fit for short sessions. For other games with online play, see our multiplayer list.
