About Five Nights at Freddy’s
Scott Cawthon released Five Nights at Freddy’s in 2014, and the small, one-room horror game grew into one of the best-known indie series of the decade. You take the night shift as a security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a family restaurant whose animatronic mascots roam the building after closing. You never leave the office. Instead, you flip through security cameras, check the hall lights and shut the doors when something gets too close.
The real pressure comes from power. Doors, lights and cameras all drain a limited supply, and if it runs out before 6 AM, you have no defenses left. Each night is harder than the last. After the main five, the original game unlocks a sixth night and a custom night where you set each animatronic’s difficulty yourself.
How it runs in your browser
This copy is hosted on fnaffree.io, a fan site with no connection to Scott Cawthon. Pressing Play opens it in a new tab, and there’s nothing to download or install.
Saving isn’t listed for this version, so closing the tab may send you back to the first night. A single night lasts under ten minutes of real time, so it’s easy to play several in a row.
Controls and devices
This version uses the mouse plus a few keys:
- Q / E: toggle the left or right door
- A / D: left or right hall light
- Space: raise or lower the camera monitor
- Mouse: look around the office and pick cameras
The game was also released on phones, but this browser copy isn’t listed as working on them, so a computer is the safer bet. Controller support isn’t listed either.
Tips
Watch the power meter as closely as the cameras. Checking feeds constantly burns through your supply, and a closed door keeps draining power for as long as it stays shut. Sound matters as much as the picture, so headphones help you notice what the cameras miss. If a night goes badly, it’s usually because power ran out early, not because of one bad moment near the end.
