The Binding of Isaac started in 2011 as a Flash game by Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl. Nicalis remade it as The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth in 2014, and Repentance, released in 2021, became its largest expansion. Repentance+ is a later update to that version of the game.
The setup is simple and grim. Isaac flees his mother into the basement and fights downward through randomly generated floors, shooting tears at the monsters he finds. Every run turns up different items, many of which change how Isaac attacks or looks, so builds stack in odd and powerful ways. Death ends the run, and you start over from the top.

Losing runs is how the game teaches you what each item and enemy does.
