About Budokai Tenkaichi 2

Spike developed Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2, and it came out on the PlayStation 2 in late 2006, with a Wii version following from November that year. It was the first game in the series on Nintendo’s console. Namco Bandai Games published it, with Atari releasing it in North America. In Japan the game is called Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Neo.

Like the first Budokai Tenkaichi, it places the camera behind your fighter and sets battles in open 3D arenas. You fly around the stage, dash in for close-range combos, back off to charge ki and fire energy attacks from a distance. That makes it a different kind of game from the side-on Budokai trilogy, including Budokai 3, even though the names are similar.

Budokai Tenkaichi 2 has 100 characters in 136 forms once transformations are counted, spread over 16 stages. Its story mode is called Dragon Adventure, and the World Tournament and Cell Games modes are also included. The Japanese and European Wii releases added five more characters, but this page runs the PS2 version with its original roster.

How it runs in your browser

Pressing Play opens dragonballbt2.online in a new tab. Slayoner runs the site on snuri00’s browser runtime, which uses WebAssembly and WebGPU. The game files load automatically, so there is nothing to install and no disc image to supply. A current version of Chrome or Edge is the safe choice.

You can fight the computer on your own or play a friend online. The host documents private rooms in which each player controls their own character while the game stays synchronized between both browsers. Saving isn’t mentioned in the host’s notes, so story progress and unlocks may not carry over between visits.

The site blocks visitors from some countries, including Pakistan and Turkey.

Controls and devices

You can use a keyboard or a game controller. Click inside the game picture first so the browser sends it your input. In a game built around flying, dashing and charging in three dimensions, a controller with analog sticks gives you noticeably finer movement than the keyboard. The exact key layout isn’t listed here, so check the site or the game’s own options before your first fight.

Phones and tablets aren’t listed as supported. Use a desktop or laptop.

Who it’s for

It suits Dragon Ball fans who played the Tenkaichi games on the PS2 and want the second entry back in a browser tab, and anyone who wants a one-on-one fight with a friend without either of you installing an emulator. If you’d rather play the next game in the series, Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is also on the site. For a lighter crossover brawler, try Battle Stadium D.O.N.

Is Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 Free, Safe and Official?

Can I play Budokai Tenkaichi 2 online with a friend?

Yes. The host documents private rooms where each player controls their own fighter and the game is kept in sync between the two browsers.

Is this Budokai 3 or Budokai Tenkaichi 2?

It’s Budokai Tenkaichi 2, the 3D arena fighter with a camera behind your character. Budokai 3 belongs to the earlier, side-on Budokai series and is a different game.

Why won’t the game load?

The browser runtime uses WebAssembly and WebGPU, so use a current Chrome or Edge on a computer. After it loads, click inside the game so it picks up your keyboard or controller.
