About Budokai Tenkaichi 3

Released in 2007, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is a fighting game developed by Spike and published by Bandai Namco Games for the PlayStation 2 and Wii. It is the third game in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, which moved away from the side-on view of earlier Dragon Ball fighters to a camera behind your character, open 3D arenas and fast flight across the map.

Its roster was one of the largest of any fighting game at the time, with characters and transformations drawn from across Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and GT. Beam clashes, rushes across the stage and quick teleports behind your opponent all come straight from the show.

How it runs in your browser

The game opens on dragonballbt3.online in a new tab. Loading the game files takes a while on the first launch, so wait a minute before assuming something is wrong. There is nothing to install, and you don’t need your own copy of the game.

Saves are kept in your browser, and the site lets you export them. Exporting now and then is worth the few seconds it takes, because clearing your browser data or moving to another device would otherwise leave your progress behind.

Online play

Online matches run in rooms for two players. Send the room invite to a friend, or wait for a random opponent to join.

Controls and devices

A controller works on a computer: click the game picture first, then press a button so the browser picks it up. Without that click the pad may not respond, so it is the first thing to try if your controller seems dead.

On phones, the game shows on-screen PS2 buttons over the picture, so you can play from a mobile browser too. A controller still gives you more precise movement than touch in a 3D fighter where you are constantly flying, dashing and charging energy.

If you are new to the game, spend a few rounds against the computer before taking on a friend online. The controls take some getting used to.
