About Plague Inc.
Plague Inc. launched on mobile in 2012, made by Ndemic Creations, a small UK studio founded by James Vaughan. It later came to PC as Plague Inc: Evolved. The premise is grim but simple: your disease has just infected patient zero, and you win by wiping out humanity before the world can develop a cure.
You choose a pathogen type and a starting country. As the infection spreads you earn DNA points to spend on three kinds of upgrades: transmission routes such as air and water, symptoms that make the disease more severe, and abilities that help it survive heat, cold and drugs. The strategy lies in timing. Become lethal too early and governments react; stay mild too long and the cure catches up.
How it runs in your browser
The browser port was made by reeyuki and is hosted on wasm.rip. It plays right here on this page, with nothing to install.
Saving isn’t listed as supported, but a single game of Plague Inc. is short enough to finish in one session. Most of the game happens on a world map and in upgrade menus, which suits a browser tab well.
Controls and devices
Plague Inc. was designed for touchscreens, but this port isn’t listed as working on phones, so play it on a computer with a mouse. Controllers aren’t listed as supported. If you want to play on a phone, the official mobile app is the better route.
Tips
Spread first and kill later. Early on, put DNA into transmission and resistance so the disease reaches remote countries before anyone takes it seriously. Island nations that close their borders early, such as Madagascar and Greenland, are famous for being the last places left. Once infection is everywhere, switch to deadly symptoms and finish the job before the cure is ready. Keep an eye on the cure bar throughout, since it tells you how much time you really have.
