About FIFA 14
EA Canada’s FIFA 14 arrived in September 2013 as that year’s entry in EA Sports’ long-running football series. It came out on an unusually wide spread of hardware, from the PlayStation 2 and Wii up to the then-new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The version here is the PlayStation Portable edition, a handheld release that North American players could only buy as a digital download.
The browser version is a fan project by Slayoner, who brings the PSP game into a browser tab. You don’t need a PSP, an emulator setup or your own copy of the game.
How it runs in your browser
The game opens on fifa14.online in a new tab rather than on our page. Nothing needs to be installed. Saving progress isn’t listed as a feature, so longer modes may not carry over between visits; quick matches are the safer bet.
Online play is built around rooms that hold two players. You can make a private room and send its code to a friend, or open a public room and wait for someone to join. The online mode is marked as experimental, so it may not always behave reliably. If a match fails to connect, starting a fresh room is the simplest thing to try.
That lets two people in different places play a head-to-head match of a 2013 FIFA without either of them setting up an emulator.
Controls and devices
You can play with a keyboard or a game controller. A controller is closer to how the PSP version was meant to feel, with a stick for movement and face buttons for passing and shooting. Phones aren’t listed as supported, so use a desktop or laptop.
Who it’s for
This page suits fans of handheld-era FIFA who want a quick kickabout against a friend, and anyone curious how the PSP edition compares with the console versions they remember. If you are looking for a current roster or modern modes, this is not the place; it is the 2013 handheld game as it was.
