About Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is Infinity Ward’s 2009 sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, published by Activision and released in November of that year. Alongside its campaign, it’s best remembered for its multiplayer: quick rounds, custom loadouts, and killstreak rewards that let a player call in support after several kills in a row.
iw4browse is a fan-made browser version of that multiplayer side. The name comes from IW4, the internal name for the Infinity Ward engine that MW2 runs on. The host credits the build to browzerczar and lists 16 maps and 8 game modes, and you can play against bots or with friends.
How it runs in your browser
The game opens on the iw4browse site in a new tab instead of playing inside our page. Before the game appears, the site might briefly run a traffic check.
Expect a big download the first time you start it, so begin on a steady connection and leave the tab open while it loads. The host recommends Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop; if another browser struggles, switch to one of those before trying anything else.
No save support is listed, so stats or unlocks may not carry over from one session to the next. Bots are a useful option when you want to learn the maps or when none of your friends are online.
Controls and devices
This is a computer-only game. It isn’t set up for phones or tablets, and controller support isn’t listed, so plan on a keyboard and mouse. Key bindings aren’t published here; check the game’s settings once it has loaded.
A desktop or laptop with a recent version of Chrome or Edge is the setup the host points to, and a wired or otherwise stable internet connection will make the first download go faster.
Who it’s for
It suits players who spent time in MW2’s multiplayer and want to revisit it without installing the PC game, as well as newcomers curious about one of the best-known shooters of its era. For more shooters with online play, see our multiplayer list or the Counter-Strike page.
