About FlatOut 2
Bugbear Entertainment developed FlatOut 2, and Empire Interactive published it for Windows, PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2006. It reached Russia on June 29, Europe on June 30 and North America on August 1, and it received positive reviews. As the sequel to 2004’s FlatOut, it leans more toward the street racing and import tuner scene, and better tire grip means cars skid less in tight turns. Cars come in three classes: derby, race and street.
Crashes are the point. A hard enough hit throws your driver out of the car, and the stunt events use that on purpose: you launch the driver at bowling pins, a dartboard, a field goal or flaming hoops, or skip the driver across water. You steer the driver in the air, though too much steering slows the flight, and a small nudge can stretch a jump that falls short. An enhanced version, FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage, followed in 2007.
How it runs in your browser
This is an experimental, unofficial WebAssembly port by dezm0n. Pressing Play opens it on justplayweb.com in a new tab; press Start game there. The engine loads first, and the game archives are then read piece by piece as races need them, so the first start takes the longest. You don’t need your own copy of the game.
dezm0n first published the port on itch.io, but now releases its updates only on justplayweb.com, which also hosts the porter’s other browser ports. The itch.io build warns it may be removed in time, so it’s listed here as a second option. Profiles are saved in your browser, and the Settings and saves panel can import or export them and show an FPS counter. The game starts at 1920×1080 unless you change the graphics settings, and it can run in English or Russian. The itch.io page says AI assisted with the code.
On 3 November 2026, in desktop Chrome, pressing Start game on justplayweb.com loaded the game to its FlatOut 2 title screen, marked “WebPort by dezm0n.” On our connection that took about four minutes on one try, and a slower try was still loading after seven, so expect a long first load.
Controls and devices
From the port’s page: the arrow keys drive, Ctrl fires nitro, Space is the handbrake, R resets the car and Esc pauses. On a gamepad, use the left stick and triggers. Bindings can be changed in the game’s Options.
Desktop Chrome is recommended. On a laptop with two graphics chips, the page suggests fully closing Chrome and starting it with the –force_high_performance_gpu flag, and a Low FPS help panel appears on weaker graphics. Phones aren’t mentioned.
Who it’s for
It suits anyone who wants a racer built around wrecks rather than clean laps. For more crash racing, try Burnout 3: Takedown or Destruction Derby.
Is FlatOut 2 Free, Safe and Official?
Can I play FlatOut 2 online for free?
You can play it free in a browser tab through dezm0n’s unofficial web port, with no account and nothing to install. It’s a single-player port; online races aren’t mentioned.
Do I need my own FlatOut 2 game files?
No. The host serves the game data and reads it piece by piece as races need it, so the first start is the slowest.
Does the FlatOut 2 web port work on a phone?
The port is described for desktop, with keyboard and gamepad controls, and desktop Chrome is recommended. Phones aren’t mentioned, and we haven’t tested one.
