About Toasterball

Two goals, one ball and a pitch full of toasters: that’s Toasterball, a 2023 physics-based sports game from the independent studio Les Crafteurs. You control a toaster and try to knock the ball into the opposing goal while slices of bread fly in every direction.

The twist is that a match doesn’t stay the same for long. Every time someone scores, the gameplay changes, so whatever you were getting used to can shift right under you. The original is built around playing against friends, which is where most of its chaos comes from.

It suits anyone who likes silly party games and physics-driven sports, where the fun comes from things going wrong in unexpected ways. Matches lean on momentum and chaos more than careful tactics, so it’s easy to pick up without learning a playbook first.

How it runs in your browser

Toasterball’s browser version is an unofficial port by dasher. It loads from wasm.rip and plays right here on this page, with nothing to install.

The browser version has no online play, so you can’t take on friends over the internet here. Progress saving isn’t listed for the port either. Since the original is designed as a multiplayer game, check which modes this version offers once it loads before planning a session around it.

The port is a fan project and could be taken down at the rights holder’s request. For the full multiplayer experience the game is built around, the official version from Les Crafteurs is available on Steam.

Controls and devices

Use a computer with a keyboard. Phone play isn’t supported, and the port doesn’t list controller support. The host doesn’t publish a key list, so check the in-game settings or prompts for the controls.

Tips

  • Expect the rules to shift after each goal and adjust quickly rather than sticking to one approach.
  • Physics games reward patience. Line up your hits on the ball instead of charging at it every time.
