About Cheese Rolling

Every year at Cooper’s Hill in Gloucestershire, England, people throw themselves down a slope so steep it is close to a cliff, chasing a wheel of Double Gloucester cheese. Most of them end up cartwheeling to the bottom. Cheese Rolling, a 2025 game from the developer The Interviewed, turns that tradition into physics comedy: you tumble after the cheese as a limp physics body, and the spectacular falls are the point.

On Steam it is a free-to-play game built around tumbling down the hill with friends. Winning matters less than how spectacularly you get there.

How the web port works

This is an unofficial browser port credited to sexyplankton and hosted on wasm.rip. It plays right on this page, with nothing to install and no game files to provide.

Online play isn’t listed for the port, so expect to run the hill on your own rather than against friends. Saving isn’t listed either, though for a game built around short, chaotic runs that matters less than it would for most.

Controls and devices

Play on a computer with a keyboard and mouse. The port isn’t listed as working on phones, and controllers aren’t supported. Learn the controls from the game itself when it loads, since no key list is available for this port.

Ragdoll games are deliberately clumsy. Losing your footing halfway down the hill is part of the joke, not a sign that something is broken.

Tips

Since the official game is free on Steam, the Steam version is the better pick if you have a Windows PC and want to race friends online. The browser port is handy for a quick run on a machine where you can’t install anything, or for seeing what the game is like before you download it.

On the hill itself, small adjustments tend to work better than big ones. Overcorrecting is the quickest way to end up rolling sideways while the cheese gets away.
