About Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection
Dark Resurrection is a standalone update to Tekken 5 rather than a new numbered game. Namco brought it to Japanese arcades in December 2005 and to other regions in early 2006, and the PlayStation Portable version, sold as Tekken: Dark Resurrection, followed in July 2006. A downloadable PlayStation 3 release came later.
The update rebalanced the base game and expanded the cast, adding newcomers Lili and Dragunov and bringing back Armor King. The fighting itself is classic Tekken: each of the four main buttons controls one limb, and every character has a deep move list built from strings, throws and juggles. The PSP edition was widely praised as one of the best fighting games on the handheld.
How it runs in your browser
This browser version is the PSP release, hosted on tekkendr.live. Pressing Play opens the site in a new tab. There’s no download or setup on your side.
Two limits are worth knowing before you start. There’s no online play, so you can’t fight other people over the internet. Saving isn’t listed as supported either, so unlocks and progress may not be kept after you leave.
Controls and devices
Keyboard and controller both work. A gamepad is the closer match to the PSP original, which mapped left punch, right punch, left kick and right kick to the four face buttons. The exact keyboard layout isn’t listed here, so check the host’s page or the in-game options once it loads.
Phones aren’t supported, so you’ll need a desktop or laptop.
Tips
Pick one fighter and learn a handful of their moves well before switching around. Tekken rewards a small set of reliable attacks more than random button presses, and having a few go-to moves makes the tougher computer opponents far more manageable. If you have a controller, plug it in before the page loads so the browser picks it up.
