Super Mario Bros. came out for the Famicom and NES in 1985 and made Mario Nintendo’s mascot. Its run-and-jump levels, power-ups and flagpole finishes set the pattern for most 2D platform games after it. The series moved into 3D with Super Mario 64 in 1996 and went to space with Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii in 2007. Super Mario Kart started its own racing series on the Super NES in 1992, and Mario Kart 64 followed in 1996. Mario has also appeared in spin-offs well outside Nintendo’s own studios, such as the 1993 educational game Mario Is Missing!, which stars Luigi.
None of the browser versions below comes from Nintendo.
Each one opens its host in a new tab, with nothing to install and no account.
For a quick run through World 1-1, start with Super Mario Bros. If you have time for a big download and a controller, Super Mario Galaxy is the most complete 3D game here. Pick Mario Kart 64 to race friends online, or Super Mario Kart ZX for the Super NES-era tracks. For another 2D platformer in a browser, try Earthworm Jim.
No. Every game here is an unofficial fan port, fan remake or fan game, or an old PC game run by DOS.Zone. None is made or endorsed by Nintendo, and they could be taken down at Nintendo’s request.
Yes, as a fan remake. Our Super Mario Bros. page lists a free JavaScript remake of the 1985 game with all 32 levels, a level picker and a level editor. It isn’t Nintendo’s NES code.
The Mario Kart 64 port has online races for up to four players. The others listed here have no online play.
