About GTA V
Grand Theft Auto V came out in 2013, developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games, with the PC edition following in 2015. It tells the story of three criminals, Michael, Franklin and Trevor, across Los Santos and Blaine County, a sprawling take on Southern California, and lets you switch between them both in and out of missions.
The version listed here is not Rockstar’s release. It is an unofficial browser port that first circulated on playgta5.com and drew a lot of attention before that site was taken down. What survives is an Internet Archive snapshot of the site plus a few copies that other people keep online.
How it runs in your browser
The archived playgta5.com copy is the first source, and it opens in our full-screen player. Nothing happens until the game files have finished loading, so the first visit can take a minute or more.
Since the original site is gone, the archive can be missing files, and that copy may not load at all. If it stalls, switch to one of the other sources under the player:
- fiveplay.lol opens in our full-screen player and offers a Sandbox mode and a Story mode. The servers run by DeloskiYT moved here.
- gta5-87g.pages.dev is another copy of the same port and also opens in our full-screen player.
- v2.fiveplay.lol is a backup copy on FivePlay that opens on its own site in a new tab.
None of these sources keep your progress between visits, and there is no online play, so every session starts fresh.
Controls and devices
Plan on a computer with a keyboard and mouse. The port isn’t listed as working on phones, and controller support isn’t listed either. The hosts don’t publish a key list, so check the in-game prompts once it loads.
Tips
- Give the first load time before deciding a source is broken. Downloading the game files can take a while on a slow connection.
- If one source fails, move to the next instead of reloading the same one over and over.
- Treat this as a fan project, not a substitute for the official game. The copies can differ from one another, and any of them could go offline.
Is GTA V (web port) Free, Safe and Official?
Is this the official GTA V?
No. It’s an unofficial fan-made browser port with no connection to Rockstar Games. The official game is sold for PC and consoles.
Why won’t the archived copy load?
The original playgta5.com site was taken down, and the Internet Archive snapshot can be missing files. Try fiveplay.lol or one of the other sources listed under the player.
Does it save progress or support online play?
No. Progress isn’t kept between visits and there’s no online multiplayer, so each session starts from the beginning.
