About Crash Bash
Crash Bash is a party game released in 2000 for the original PlayStation. Eurocom built it, working with Cerny Games, and Sony Computer Entertainment put it out. It was the fifth Crash Bandicoot game and the first to take the series into the party genre. Instead of running through levels, up to four players compete in arena mini-games, 28 in all, spread across three modes, with eight characters from the series to pick from.
The mini-games are short and noisy: ball games where you defend a goal, battles to push rivals off the ice, crate-throwing scraps and tank fights. On the PlayStation, getting four people into a match meant a multitap and four controllers on one couch, which is a large part of why an online version is appealing now.
How it runs in your browser
Crash Bash Online opens on crashbash.app in a new tab. The site handles the emulation for you, so there’s no emulator to install or configure and no game files to supply.
Play is organized into four-player rooms. You can invite friends to your room, and if fewer than four people show up, CPU players take the open seats so each match still has a full field. Save support isn’t listed, so treat it as a drop-in party game rather than a place to work through a long single-player campaign.
Controls and devices
The site works on computers and on phones, which makes it easier to get a group together when not everyone is at a desk. Controller support isn’t listed, and a key list isn’t published here, so check the site for the current controls before your first match.
If you’re setting up a game night, it helps for one person to create the room first and share it with the others, so everyone lands in the same match.
Who it’s for
It suits groups of friends who played Crash Bash on the PlayStation and want to play together again from different places, and anyone who wants a short, competitive party game that fills its own empty seats. For more games to play with others, see our multiplayer list.
